Background/Story
As seen above, impressed molded surface  designs can be enhanced with decorative finishes.  The all black “boy in swan boat” has an acid etched finish on its recessed portions, giving it a dull/shiny combination finish.  The others use a variety of metallic lusters.  Two shown here are gold and silver.  The raised flower is covered with silver and accented with a rose metallic luster on a textured backdrop.  Impressed designs are often confused with recessed cameo designs.  Notice on all of these that some part of the central design is shaved or planed off with the rest of the picture lying below the surface.  It is much like a cross cut cameo.
