Glass Mounted in Metal

Description

This button is beveled glass in metal with a reverse intaglio 8 pointed star on the base metal. The intaglio is most evident in the second image. The glass is held in place by a double curvilinear border with three-budded prongs. The outer border is a row of balls. Both borders are brass. The button is large, 1 1/4″.

Background/Story

This button was presented as a show and tell during the 2022 NBS Winter ButtonFest. The different colors of the button in the photos are caused by different lighting when the pictures were taken. The different views are an attempt to show the bevel edge. The featured image is closet to the true color of the button.
