Netsuke. Carved wood. 1 1/4″ diameter. Little mouse with damage to both ears. My mother in law used to appraise antique and I know that some of the more interesting items in her house were like this.. slightly damaged items that I assume were acquired when she did appraisals. We found this little mouse in her belongings after she had passed away, so I was never able to ask her about it. It came to us before I had learned about buttons. A few years after my mother in law passed away, when Margaret DeWitt gave a presentation to Peninsula Button Club on Netsukes, I suddenly realized what we had!
